Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
